Robert R. Wasikowski
61 Years Old

May 30, 1930 to February 13, 1992

Robert R. "Bobby W." Wasikowski, of Parma, Ohio, was a very kind and generous man - always helping those less fortunate. He truly enjoyed helping people in their time of need. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 703 in Parma and spent most of his free time with his friends at the Post and attended most of their functions. To him this was his second home. He was well-liked and had many, many friends. He was also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1974 in Parma.

Robert R. "Bobby W." Wasikowski, 61, of Parma, Ohio, was robbed and murdered by Gary Otte on February 12, 1992. Otte tricked Bobby into giving him a ride to buy some motor oil for his car. As an excuse to get Robert into his apartment when they returned, Otte asked if he could use his phone to call a friend. After pretending to use the phone, Otte pulled a gun on Robert and proceeded to rob him of his cash and valuables. Robert offered Otte his wallet voluntarily, but Otte shot him in the forehead.

The following day, Otte went back to the same apartment complex where Robert lived and posed as a maintenance man to gain entrance into Sharon Kostura's apartment. Otte robbed and shot her in the forehead and she died one week later.

The murders were premeditated, and a three judge panel found Otte guilty of double aggravated murders, burglary, and robbery and sentenced him to die in the electric chair. As of today, he is still on death row in Ohio
