Barbara Wilson

22 Years Old

May 7, 1976 to May 10, 1998

Barbara was interested in foods and she wanted to be a chef. She was accepted to the University of Wyoming and was planning to start school for nutrition in the fall. She always gave me different recipes to help me with my diabetes.

Barbara never knew a stranger. She had many friends from different walks of life. She was beautiful and out-going. Barbara was the peacemaker in our family. She was very serious about having a good relationship.

Barbara was gifted and helped others who needed counseling. She was not perfect...she really enjoyed her friends and she liked to party. Barbara worked at Poplur Living Center (a geriatric facility) where she was an assistant dietary aide. She loved working with the elderly.

Barbara was murdered in her own apartment (it was her first). Her neighbor and co-worker Martin Shipman murdered Barbara on Mother’s Day, 1998. He strangled her to death.

Shipman is currently serving a life sentence without parole in the State Penitentiary. Due to a quirk in Wyoming law, he will be eligible for parole in 2008.

Barbara died just three days after her 22nd birthday.
