Why Are We Here?

The purpose of Parents Of Murdered Children-Durham Chapter, Inc. is to assist parents and other survivors of homicide with their grief and the criminal justice system by :

  • Providing resource people to talk with families and individuals about their concerns and problems.
  • Providing a quarterly “OUTREACH” Newsletter for POMC members, victim rights advocates and community organizations.
  • Providing information, experiences, courtroom accompaniment, and support during the hearing, trial and throughout the parole process.
  • Sharing members own experiences, feelings and insights.
  • Educating the public and agencies about murder and its aftermath through speaking engagements, forums and communicating with professionals.
  • Being there to listen in a nonjudgmental way because grief shared is grief lessen.
